To travel to Myanmar, in Burma, you need a valid visa. For some years now, it has been possible to apply for a visa directly online, on the official website. This is called an e-Visa. How do you obtain an e-Visa? What criteria need to be met?
Obtaining an e-Visa
Since September 2014, it has been possible to obtain a visa to enter Myanmar online. If you are a French national or a national of one of the hundred or so countries covered by the e-Visa, all you have to do is visit the official website set up by the Burmese government and then fill in the e-Visa application form.
The electronic visa for Myanmar is a simple and highly functional way of visiting a country legally. It's quick and easy, and allows everyone to obtain a visa without having to go to an embassy (often, in the provinces, the nearest is the one in the country's capital, like Paris). The e-Visa allows you to stay in the country for 28 days. The visa start date corresponds to the date of entry into Burma.
The process itself
Just go to the site and click on ". Apply Visa "to get started. You must also carefully select the type of visa you wish to apply for (business, tourist, etc). Enter your nationality and your point of arrival (Yangon airport). Enter the control code and click on "Agree" to go on to the next stage. A window will open asking you to enter all your personal details and passport information. This is where you upload your recent passport photo, in colour and in an appropriate format.
You can then pay for your e-Visa application directly online, by entering your credit card details. You will receive confirmation of your application by e-mail.
